W+K 12 Recruiting for Year 6
W+K RADIO IS ON.
W+K Portland launched W+K Radio today … it’s now live and available for your listening pleasure.
The radio extension exists to inspire creativity through provocative conversations, interviews and artistic expressions relating to arts, culture, media, and music. It’ll start small with minimal programming hours, with a goal to eventually share an equal amount of programming between our seven different offices and their communities worldwide.

THE OYKOT GGG MURAL : GONE!
After three plus weeks of jacking ggg and the Ginza street, our wall is down and the neighborhood can go back to “normal”. Props to RDK, HITOTSUKI (Kami + Sasu), SCA Crew, and SCOLOCT for giving us an explosion of artwork that brought people into our exhibit. Big thanks to ggg for allowing us to do it and much credit to Tokyo Studio for engineering and constructing the wall to help us pull this off. A big OTSU to all.

Roppongi Blues won the last game of 2008!
我らの六本木ブルースは、12月20日駒沢の電通八星苑グランドにて対ガッツ戦を行ない、行き詰まる投手戦の末、今年の最終戦を2対１の勝利でかざった。
彼らには過去２度対戦し、１引き分け、１敗と一度も勝利していなかったので、
チームの喜びもひとしお。来年につながる意味ある最終戦となった。
今年は、例年に比べ、秋の試合数が少なかったため、前半はチームの動きも今イチだったけれど、試合が進むにつれてだんだんと体もほぐれ、エラーも少ない良いゲームだった。
夜には今年の打ち上げを行い、今年度の優秀選手として、チームの首位打者足立公平選手とMVPに菅野彰一選手が表彰された。

Our baseball team ROPPONGI BLUES played with team GUTS on December 20th, at Komazawa Dentsu Haseien Ground.
After a tough pitcher’s battle, we won our last-game-of-the-year by 2 to 1.
We played them twice in the past…one game was a draw, one was a lose, so everyone in the team was filled with joy.
It was a real significant final match leading to next year.
Since we didn’t have a lot of games this fall compared to previous years, the team’s moves were not that good, but as we played along our bodies started to loosen up and started playing good matches without too many errors.
We had the end of year party that night, and Kohei Adachi our leading hitter and Shoichi Sugano, MVP of the year were both awarded.

THE OYKOT GGG MURAL, PART 4 : SKOLOCT, おわり!
We thought putting up a graffiti mural at the Ginza Graphic Gallery was something unlike anything in the past for the neighborhood, but the truly unexpected has arrived now in the form of SKOLOCT! This is the last of the night paintings (12 nights). So Merry Xmas Ginza, all the crew at Triple G’s, Wieden+Kennedy and friends, and all you kids wanting something warmer and brighter in this season and times!

Another W+K relationship leads to wedded bliss
Yuko and Yohei, both W+K Tokyo peeps, tied the knot on November 23rd (we’re a little behind on blogging!) This came after a surprise announcement of their engagement to a shocked and thrilled W+K staff earlier this summer.
Yuko looked gorgeous and cool as a cucumber as she was getting ready for the big event. Yohei also looked very dapper, but perhaps just a tad nervous as he made his way down the aisle. Once the main event was over, both were all smiles!
Welcome to married life — we’re so happy for you both! Lots of love from all your friends at W+K Tokyo!

2008 Bounenkai Party
Seems like we just celebrated the end of 2007, and now the end of 2008 is drawing near. For this year’s bounenkai, we decided to play it low key. Given the economy, low budget was in order. So, we threw a “home party” and everyone contributed home made food. Luckily, W+K Tokyo has some mighty fine cooks, so the chow was some of the best we’ve ever had. To usher in good luck for 2009, we made our own mochi, and broke open a sake keg. Here’s hoping these year end rituals will usher in a bright and prosperous new year for W+K Tokyo!

Clearly Yohei and Masaru have made mochi before.
Here’s what it looked like after a lot of pounding.
Once the mochi was ready, it was stuffed with various fillings, coated with sesame, and used in soup.
Ando from Nike Japan presented Yone with 2 jerseys — one for wearing, the other for hanging.
Yone and Trish broke open the sake.
D+H served as one of many DJs for the evening.
As always, Yuko lit up the dance floor (note the lovely frock she’s wearing from Palette NY!)
As we bring the year to a close, we want to wish all our friends, colleagues and clients a very happy and peaceful holiday season!
